I am the Director of Research at the Sababi Institute, an independent research organization based in Hargeisa, Somaliland, where I study social and political behavior, survey methodology, and work to develop new sources of primary data. The Sababi Institute's mission is to conduct and facilitate rigorous research in areas neglected by most scholars, especially Somalia. Our current work is focused on survey methods for use in areas without sample frames, and attitudes toward the justice sector and customary justice in Somalia.

I am also the Director of Research at Consilient, a development research consulting firm that operates throughout East Africa, and a Ph.D. candidate at the Woodrow Wilson Department of Politics at the University of Virginia.
